The place itself is lovely - set on the side of a hill, it's a beautifully restored old granite mansion/large farmhouse. It's peaceful and the views are lovely. Our room was traditional Portugese, with antique furnishings and lace, but with a modern bathroom and additional sitting room as well as many other spaces and rooms we could use. The manager was informative, very pleasant and helpful and speaks English beautifully. We would have loved to have been there in a warmer month so we could use the pool and the gym/sauna, and there are obviously plans to offer more like wine tasting. It's such good value, and was a really lovely place to stay.

Very very nice Quinta. Great view on the surrounding valley & villages. Quite calm and exellent service. Near Barcelos, Ponte de Lima & Viano do Castelo. The National Park is nearby. Might come back for a stay in the North.

The hotel was in a beautiful setting. Close attention paid to cleanliness, linen, towels, etc changed each day. The manager was very well informed about the history of the hotel and the surrounding area. He made sure the hotel was a friendly and relaxing environment for guests. We chose the hotel over our usual holiday choice of a villa, since we felt the facilities would offer a little more to our teenage children. We were right. They enjoyed the tennis, pool and gym area. We had a very hot week, and the chance to go into the lovely cool communal areas was very welcome. Just perfect!

Although a bit hidden away - but yet easily accessible by car, it has a great location to explore day trips to nearby villages and sites. But also the quinta itself has much to offer to relax, with great, confortable rooms and very friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend this place to everyone.

The location was absolutely beautiful, very peaceful and relaxing. We were looked after very well, the room was cleaned every day, sheets and towels were changed daily as well. The pool was lovely and clean and everywhere around was kept tidy, pretty garden areas to sit, tennis court and a small gym and sauna by the pool. Our host Ferndando was very helpful and obliging, nothing was too much trouble. We hired a car which you need so that you can go out evenings to dine and also to visit places likes Porto or the beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone who wants a chilled and relaxing break.
The only thing was that the mattress on the bed was very hard

Excellent all round. Beautiful quinta, great views. Spacious, really comfortable rooms. First class buffet breakfast with home made jams and cakes, fresh rolls and croissants. Very helpful staff. And the wine from the quinta's own grapes is superb and well worth 4 euros a bottle. It's also well located as a base for visiting all the historical sites in the area and for exploring the glorious national park on the Spanish border. Very highly recommended.
The only problem is finding the place. The Google directions supplied by Booked.net are complex and inaccurate and the quinta's own directions are not much better. But, as always in Portugal, the local people are always happy to help put you on the right road. Just ask!

The breakfast was very average.

Nice Continental breakfast with mountain views. Peaceful location, with great places to sit and relax. Nice pool area.
Our room was really small (only room for one bedside table) and the bathroom was tiny (no bath, only shower, and the door does not open more than half). Nothing like the available pictures. It would be nice if there was some light food and drinks available, in case you don't want to go out, but there is a Supermarket very near. Not suitable for guests on wheel chairs.
